How to Become (Nearly) Invulnerable in Mob Enforcer

By MrLipid
July 2004

This simple hex edit will make you invulnerable to the metric tons of lead that the bad guys will send your way in Mob Enforcer. It will not, however, protect you from steam burns, electrocution, high falls, explosions or fire. Fortunately, the Molotov cocktail hour doesn't start until the last two levels of the game.

The Fix Is In ...

To make yourself invulnerable, do the following.

Start a new game of Mob Enforcer at whatever level of difficulty you prefer. Only two things change from one level to the next: the bad guys become better shots and their shots do more damage. Thanks to this hex edit, you might get hit more at the higher levels of difficulty, but it won't matter.

Once you have control of your character, immediately save your game. You should be standing with your back to a gate on an elevated train platform.

Exit your game.

Open your trusty hex editor. If you don't have a hex editor, you can go here and download one.

Use File Open in your hex editor to open the Mob Enforcer folder. In the Mob Enforcer folder, double-click on the Save folder. Then double-click on the Player folder. Then double-click on the SinglePlayer folder. In the SinglePlayer folder, double-click on the Slot01 folder. In the Slot01 folder, double-click on the Slot01.sav file.

(Note: This technique assumes that the saved game you want to edit is also the saved game in first saved game slot. If the saved game you want to edit is, say, in the third slot, then go to the Slot03 folder rather than the Slot01 folder and follow the editing instructions below.)

In the .sav file, you are looking for all four instances of AIDamageAdjust:

AIDamageAdjustVeryHard 1.000000
AIDamageAdjustEasy 0.080000
AIDamageAdjustHard 0.500000
AIDamageAdjustNormal 0.250000

You can easily find these values by going to Search in your editor and clicking on Find. Click on the button labeled Text String and type in the following just as it appears here (Case matters!):

AIDamageAdjust

Then click on the button labeled Text -> Hex. This translates AIDamageAdjust into 41 49 44 61 6D 61 67 65 41 64 6A 75 73 74.

Click on OK and you will be taken to the first instance of AIDamageAdjust. It should be AIDamageAdjustVeryHard and the number after it should be 1.000000. Change 1.000000 to 0.000001.

IMPORTANT: The hex editor should be in overwrite mode and all changes made in the right or text pane of the hex editor, that is, in the pane where you find AIDamageAdjustVeryHard.

Repeat this process with AIDamageAdjustEasy, AIDamageAdjustHard and AIDamageAdjustNormal.

This reduces the level of damage the AI can do to your character to virtually nothing.

Save your edited .sav game and close your hex editor. Start Mob Enforcer, load your edited saved game and start exploring. Just remember not to shoot any civilians, and don't get yourself arrested! And, when it comes time to save your game, just save it in the next slot down. All of your editing carries through from one saved game to the next.

Or you can download this already-edited saved game file. Just copy it into your Mob Enforcer/Save/Player/SinglePlayer/Slot01 folder. It will come up in Slot 1 as CHAPTER1 - The Hunter.

Bonus

Because Mob Enforcer is built on the same game engine as No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way, Contract J.A.C.K. and TRON 2.0, this editing technique can be used to make yourself invulnerable in those games, too.
